Carol Barron (Wakefoose)

What are you doing today?

I graduated with a B.S. in HPA in 1995. I work at the North Carolina Baptist Hospital, Inc., where I am the associate director, Financial Services Managed Care.

How has HPA helped you get where you are today?

Penn State's HPA program is excellent. The undergraduate internship program is a wonderful opportunity to network and explore all the opportunities there are in health care. The degree prepared me well to accept the challenges that managed care brings into health care. I have since completed my dual master's degrees in Business Administration and Health Administration from a university in North Carolina. I found some of the MHA material to be dated. Penn State definitely was on the forefront of health care and what is happening in the market, which made it an exciting learning experience.
