Hometown: Memphis, TN
Broadly, I am interested in increasing access and decreasing the cost of healthcare. Specifically, I would like to research the effects of HIT on quality improvement, ACO structuring to drive down healthcare cost without decreasing access and choice, bundle payments, hospice care, avoiding readmissions, primary prevention through community led efforts, and health policy development and implementation.
I majored in biology and minored in business at Maryville College, a small liberal arts college near Knoxville, TN. I completed an MPH at Emory University in Atlanta, where I focused my studies on health policy and management.
I’ve worked at a variety of healthcare settings, including a pediatric clinic, non-profit hospital, science lab, and two divisions at the CDC in the Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response and the Division of Healthcare Quality and Promotion.
Interests/Facts about Hometown
I grew up in Memphis, TN. Memphis is known for good barbeque, rock music, The Peabody Hotel/ducks, and Elvis. When I am not working on my dissertation, I enjoy gardening, working-out, and traveling.
