The College of Nursing seeks candidates for the position of Assistant Dean for Online Education and Outreach. This is a fixed term 48-week appointment with full University benefits. The anticipated start date is as early as July 2015. Reporting to the associate dean, the Assistant Dean will provide visionary and innovative leadership in the management and oversight of the current on-line offerings (RN to BS, MSN in Education and Administration and DNP) for the College of Nursing. In addition, the Assistant Dean will strengthen the college’s online education and outreach programs through strategic visioning and business planning congruent with the strategic goals for the College of Nursing and the Office of Outreach and Online Education. This position is responsible for directing the work within the outreach office as well as discovering, planning, and implementing new revenue producing programs and courses. The Assistant Dean will coordinate all of the various outreach programs and offerings of the college, including online course development, conferences and summer camps, e-learning initiatives and the continued integration of the use of technology in the teaching/learning enterprise. Oversight of the college’s outreach portfolio, including enrollment management, instructor assignments, revenue projections, and analysis of portfolio key indicators (enrollment, revenue), will be expected. This position will be in charge of the direction of the college’s Outreach and Online Education department which includes: hiring, training, developing and evaluating staff and faculty; developing unit policies and procedures in alignment with the University and College policies and procedures; administering policies and procedures for the office; and, recommending professional development as needed.
Required qualifications for the position include; licensure as a registered nurse, an earned doctorate in nursing or a related health field and evidence of a commitment to work respectfully with individuals of diverse backgrounds and points of view. The preferred candidate will have demonstrated leadership skills in a nursing or health-related discipline; skills in diplomacy, negotiation, and conflict resolution; skills in change leadership and staff development; a high level of accountability and self-management; and, a high level of innovation in developing new models to support the growth and quality of the College’s Outreach programs.
