The College of Health and Human Development and The School of Nursing invite you to join them in Pink Zone - Breast Cancer Awareness and Lady Lion Basketball

An open invitation to the Health and Human Development and School of Nursing communities

January 13, 2009

Dear HHD and SON Colleagues,

advertisement for PinkZone basketball outing

In the interest of combating the winter doldrums and supporting a great cause, HHD, in conjunction with the School of Nursing (SON), is organizing a special event. We are hoping that a large contingent of College and SON faculty, staff, students, alumni, families and friends will attend the February 15th women's home basketball game (3:00 p.m. Penn State vs. Iowa at the Bryce Jordan Center). This game has been set aside for the annual "Pink Zone" (formerly Think Pink) fundraiser to boost breast cancer awareness.

Maggie Crispell, director of development, has arranged bargain ticket prices ($8 instead of the usual $12 for adults; $5 for students). If you are interested in attending, please contact Cindy Sackett ( in HHD's Dean's Office to order tickets. We'll sit together as a group and cheer when the HHD/SON sponsorship of the event is announced. If you already have season tickets, you‚ll have your own seats but please plan to join us all ahead of time for some refreshments (we will have a room booked at the Jordan Center and will let you know the details after we know you are coming).

In addition, Cindy Sackett is selling the traditional "pink zone" t-shirts which are part of the breast cancer awareness fundraising activities. Pink Zone t-shirts are available in sizes Small, Medium, Large, X-Large and 2X-Large for $8.00 each. Orders for tickets and "pink zone" t-shirts are due by Thursday, January 29; Checks payable to 'Penn State University' or cash will be accepted.

A final motivator: HHD has three women on the team—two from HDFS and one from Kinesiology. We want to cheer them on in big numbers! We are looking forward to it and hope you can join us!

Best Wishes,

Nan Crouter, dean, and Paula Milone-Nuzzo, dean
