Centerís Inaugural Conference to Focus on Motor Control Research

The newly established Penn State Center for Motor Control will be hosting a conference, “Frontiers in Motor Control,” on October 30, 2009, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Bennett Pierce Living Center, 110 Henderson Building on Penn State’s University Park campus. This is the first official event the center is hosting since its establishment. This conference provides an excellent opportunity to celebrate and learn about the new center.

At “Frontiers in Motor Control,” attendees will discuss topics and research in motor control. The conference will feature presentations from distinguished scientists who study motor coordination against a variety of backdrops (neural, biomechanical, cognitive, and clinical sciences). Center faculty will also be available to discuss the possibility of future collaborations, as the center was founded with the intention of fostering interdisciplinary research in motor control.  

Founding members of the Penn State Center for Motor Control are affiliated with a number of academic units across Penn State, including the College of Engineering, the College of Health and Human Development, the College of the Liberal Arts, and the College of Medicine, as well as Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences.

About the Center for Motor Control:

Penn State has been a leader in interdisciplinary research on human movement for decades, performing research across many disciplines including kinesiology, psychology, engineering, orthopedics, and neurology. The newly formed Center for Motor Control merges these disciplines with the intention of facilitating interdisciplinary and translational research focusing on the underlying mechanisms of motor coordination in both healthy and diseased states.
