A Greater Penn State for 21st Century Excellence
A Greater Penn State
A Greater Penn State for 21st Century Excellence is a university-wide effort to strengthen our commitment to our historic land grant mission and apply it to the 21st century challenges facing our students, our country, and our world.
With this goal in mind, President Baron has articulated three core imperatives of a public university. Our success in the campaign will be measured by the support we receive toward:
Open Doors
Bringing talented students from every background to Penn State and helping them to graduate on-time and with less debt.
In Penn State’s College of Health and Human Development (HHD), we educate students to serve all members of our society, and we are committed to creating an academic community that reflects that same diversity. But to maintain a vibrant student body, we must ensure a Penn State degree remains accessible to ambitious scholars from every walk of life. Endowed and annually funded scholarships are essential tools to provide meaningful support to our students, enrich the quality of our degree programs, and build the culture of excellence for which we are known.
Create Transformative Experiences
Distinguishing a Penn State education by taking students and faculty beyond the classroom to develop a global perspective, a deep commitment to the arts and humanities, and a high level of readiness for the digital age.
Extraordinary students choose the College of Health and Human Development (HHD) not only for the world-class curriculum that Penn State offers, but also for experiences that allow them to grow as individuals and as future leaders. From study abroad programs to lab experiences with groundbreaking faculty research to “real world” service in non-profit organizations, our students are engaging in unique, life-changing opportunities outside the classroom that will define their future success. Through the Greater Penn State campaign, alumni and friends can help enrich our academic and cocurricular offerings, enhance student engagement, and strengthen our presence in academic research and in communities around the world.
Impact the World
Encompasses our efforts through teaching, research, and outreach, to tackle some of the fundamental challenges associated with enhancing human health and well-being -- and develop solutions.
With a diverse array of academic degrees, the College of Health and Human Development (HHD) strives to advance research and education to improve human health and wellbeing across the life spectrum. Our programs have immediate impacts on the lives of our students, and rippling effects on lives and communities around the world. Through the Greater Penn State campaign, we will capitalize on our current strengths, build our capacity to serve students, and broaden the scope and impact of our research and outreach activities.
