The Diversity Achievement Award honors a faculty or staff member in the College of Health and Human Development who has made sustained and significant contributions to fostering diversity at Penn State or in the College of Health and Human Development.

Purpose

The Diversity Achievement Award recognizes a person who demonstrates commitment to the value of diversity and has been instrumental in creating or facilitating a climate of inclusiveness in the college.

Criteria

Any faculty, staff, or student in the College of Health and Human Development may receive this award. The individual must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Is dedicated to facilitating inclusiveness in and out of the classroom, in the College and throughout the University
  • Serves as a role model to students, faculty, administrators, and to the local community in working toward a diverse University
  • Has made a lasting impact on the College by fostering an appreciation for human differences and furthering opportunities for diversity
  • Has made a lasting impact on the College by fostering an appreciation for human differences and furthering opportunities for diversity

Nominating Procedure

Nominations may be made by students, staff, faculty, or alumni.

The nomination shall consist of the following:

  1. A resume or vita
  2. One comprehensive letter of support, with three signatures, that details how the candidate meets the award criteria.

Selection

Selection will be made by a committee appointed by the Dean of the College of Health and Human Development.

Frequency

Past recipients are not eligible for a period of five years.

Award

The recipient will receive a monetary award and a plaque.

The nomination period for this award is closed.
