Sarah Falso
Sarah Falso, '12 - Movement Science
Neurologic Physical Therapist | Advocate for Adaptive Recreation
Sarah Falso, a 2012 graduate of Penn State’s Department of Kinesiology with a degree in Movement Science, has built a dynamic career rooted in compassion, clinical excellence, and a drive to expand access to movement for all. Currently a Physical Therapist at To Life! Therapy and Wellness in Pittsburgh, PA, Sarah is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Neurologic Physical Therapy. She earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Northwestern University and has since dedicated her career to working with individuals with neurological disorders, balance impairments, and complex medical needs.
Reflecting on her time at Penn State, Sarah describes it as a transformative chapter. “The campus was vibrant, filled with passionate people who inspired me to push myself further,” she shares. “I thrived in the Kinesiology program, where I gained valuable knowledge and practical experience that would shape my future career.” During her undergraduate years, she was a teaching assistant, a fitness center trainer, and an active member of the Penn State community—immersed in both academics and campus life.
Her Kinesiology education laid a strong foundation in human movement, anatomy, and neuroscience, all of which prepared her for the rigors of graduate school and professional practice. “The program helped me develop not only critical clinical knowledge but also the problem-solving and analytical skills that are essential in the field of physical therapy.”
Outside of her professional achievements, Sarah channels her passion into adaptive recreation. In 2017, she launched an adaptive fishing program for individuals recovering from spinal cord injuries, made possible through grant funding. In 2021–22, she volunteered with a Track Chair program, enabling individuals of all abilities to experience the outdoors and hiking trails.
When reminiscing about her favorite Penn State moments, Sarah fondly recalls Tuesday country nights at Pickles, hikes up Mt. Nittany, and spending time with her now-husband, Chris. “Penn State was where I discovered my passions, built strong connections, and developed the skills I needed to succeed in life.”
Sarah Falso’s journey exemplifies how a Kinesiology education can be the springboard to a meaningful and impactful career—one that not only heals but also empowers.
