[Baltimore, MD] – Sherry Frick, a mother of three and resident of Baltimore, is one of nine parents who were selected to participate in the national Park-A-Day KaBOOM! Summer Challenge.

KaBOOM! is a national nonprofit dedicated to saving play for America's children. As part of its first-ever Park-A-Day Summer Challenge, KaBOOM! is asking participants to: take their children to at least 50 different local parks, playgrounds, or other public playspaces this summer; post photos and written updates to; and map each playspace in the KaBOOM! Playspace Finder (

Says Frick, “I'm a mom to three very active boys, ages 14, 10, and 5. I love parks! I majored in Parks and Recreation in college and worked as a park ranger before having children and becoming a stay-at-home mom. The Park-A-Day Challenge will give me incentive to actually take my boys to all the parks I mean to take them to, and to discover some exciting new ones.”

Frick looks forward to sharing her experiences with’s 100,000 monthly unique visitors, 4,100 Twitter followers, and 4,000 Facebook fans. Through the Park-A-Day Summer Challenge, she hopes to:

  • Highlight the importance of outdoor playspaces, especially in a year when budget deficits are forcing hundreds of parks to close across the country
  • Inspire other parents and kids to get outside, play, and explore this summer
  • Create a comprehensive map of playspaces in Baltimore and draw attention to its local parks
