Application Checklist

Review the checklist below before you begin your application.

  1. Review the program experience and consider if your Spring semester schedule will grant you enough time to dedicate to the program.
  2. Update your 1- to 2-page resume to upload with your application.
  3. Contact your reference before submitting their name with your application. This person must be a faculty/staff member or adviser at Penn State. Your reference will only be contacted if there are concerns about your application, but this person should be able to attest to your work ethic and ability to succeed in the program.
  4. Prepare answers to the following questions:
    1. What do you hope to gain from participating in the HHD Leadership EDGE Program?
    2. Describe how you would bring a different perspective to the HHD Leadership EDGE Program.
    3. What other time commitments will you have during your participation in the HHD Leadership EDGE Program (e.g., course load, student organizations, employment, etc.)
  5. Throughout the semester, each student will work in a group of 2-3 to design and implement a project plan around an agreed-upon (and approved) area of interest. This can be anything that you have a passion for, including, but not limited to: healthcare; public policy and practice; physical fitness and nutrition; recreation, touism, and/or hospitality operations. Think of at least two (2) areas of interest for which you would be able to design a leadership-focused group project around.
