Rural health advocate receives Health Equity Champion Award

Lisa Davis, director of the Pennsylvania Office of Rural Health and outreach associate professor of health policy and administration at Penn State, was presented with the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Office of Health Equity 2024 Health Equity Champion Award. The Health Equity Champion Award is presented biennially to individuals based on their years dedicated to health equity efforts, professional roles, and a demonstrated passion and success in promoting health equity. Congratulations, Lisa!

Nancy Williams receives American Kinesiology Association leadership award

 

Nancy Williams, professor of kinesiology and head of Penn State’s Department of Kinesiology, received the 2023-24 Jerry R. Thomas Distinguished Leadership Award from the American Kinesiology Association (AKA). The Jerry R. Thomas Distinguished Leadership Award recognizes the outstanding administrative and leadership performance of an individual at AKA member institutions who contributes to the attainment of their unit’s strategic goals.

New research led by School of Hospitality Management Associate Professor Breffni Noone found that the presence of a pre-process wait line, such as waiting to be seated at a restaurant, can increase perceived brand popularity of the business among first-time customers.
