A small group of mentors and protégés in discussion.

The College of Health and Human Development Mentoring Program connects HHD students and alumni by matching students who are juniors in their academic department with professionals in their field(s) of interest who can offer advice and information about career options or other issues relevant to particular fields. The mentoring program includes an initial orientation, followed by 9 months of ongoing interactions as students can explore internships, different careers and plans after graduation with their mentor. Many of our students have returned to be mentors, reflecting the value of the program to both students and alumni.

The mentoring program is open to all alumni of the College of Health and Human Development, as well as to Penn State alumni working in HHD-related fields.

All mentors and protégés are required to attend our Mentoring Kickoff event on October 25th (2025) from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM where mentors and mentees meet in person, learn more about the expectations of the mentoring program and are provided one-on-one time to work on developing goals and action steps for the mentoring relationship.
