Tarkesh Singh’s research is in the broad area of sensorimotor control. He develops and uses a systems-neuroscience approach combining behavioral, electrophysiological and imaging techniques to investigate how deficits in multisensory integration during neurodegenerative disorders, such as Parkinson’s Disease, disrupt motor planning and execution.
Prior to coming to Penn State, Singh worked as an assistant professor of kinesiology at the University of Georgia where he was also the Director of the Sensorimotor Neuroscience Laboratory. He completed multiple postdoctoral fellowships at the Medical University of South Carolina, University of South Carolina, and the Cleveland Clinic in stroke rehabilitation and biomedical engineering. Prior to that, he obtained a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India, a master’s degree in exercise science from the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, and a Ph.D. in kinesiology from Penn State.
Singh is very excited to return to his alma mater and establish a research program focused on neuromuscular disorders and sensorimotor control. For fun, he loves playing tennis and going on hikes with his wife and dog.
