Opportunities to Engage
Become a Member or Affiliate
Members within the College of Health and Human Development, and Affiliates from other Colleges will have full access to the resources of the center including access to trainings, grant support, and policy engagement. Contact Kimberley Ducato to inquire about joining as a member or affiliate.
Methods Consulting
The Center for Safe and Healthy Children is dedicated to empowering behavioral, health, and social science researchers through the dissemination of advanced quantitative methodology. Services offered through the center will include workshops, online training materials and consulting services.
The Rapid Response Coalition Network
We have established a national coalition coined the Child Welfare Rapid Response Network, which is “on-the-ready” to provide relevant research articles, findings, and other pertinent scientific resources in response to specific legislative requests.
Once information from the Child Welfare Rapid Response Network is compiled, Center for Safe and Healthy Children members and affiliates work together to translate and synthesize this information into products (e.g., fact sheets, policy briefs, short reports) that aid legislative staff or practice administrators in their use of sound research to support policy change.

Support for Junior Faculty
The mentoring of junior faculty is key to the mission of our center. The "K-club" supports the development of K-level research career development awards from proposal development and submission through support and professional development once funded. We currently have three funded K awardees in the K-club. Successful K-club members have included:
Junior faculty will also be fully supported through access to P50 resources as well as one-on-one mentoring by Full and Associate professors affiliated with the center. We also host a grant-writing bootcamp each spring to facilitate the success of postdoctoral fellows and junior faculty in R-level funding.
Contact Tom Crist for information about these opportunities.
Diversity Supplements
Our center also supports the development of NIH diversity supplements on funded projects. The Diversity Supplement mechanism supports young scholars of color in mentored research and training experience through the F31 mechanism.
Our center will assist NIH-funded projects with pre-submission expertise, mentoring of new investigators on how to craft successful supplements, and training coordination with other successful supplement programs.
