Interests

Dr. Foley-DeFiore's teaching interests center on the intersection of cultural, environmental, and social factors that influence individual and societal-level health.  She is particularly focused on how social justice and inequality affect the health of individuals and their communities and on community-based interventions that include the arts.

Professional Experience

JoAnn Foley has been teaching at the college level since 1994 and has taught classes ranging in size from 5 students to 170 students. The areas that she most loves to teach about revolve around culture, race/gender inequality, and work/family and their macro-level impacts on individual and community health. Her passion is teaching undergraduates; she is always interested in ways to better understand and educate this age group.
