Welcome to the College of Health and Human Development
The New Student Orientation (NSO) program, run by Penn State's Office for Student Orientation and Transition Programs, is designed to help you prepare for a successful start at Penn State. You will learn more about the Penn State community, academic and co-curricular expectations and opportunities, and ways to begin meeting your education goals.
All incoming first-year students are required to participate in this program. If you have already accepted your admission offer from Penn State, get more information about NSO. During NSO, you will have a chance to meet with our College of Health and Human Development (HHD) advisers and select your first schedule of classes.
NSO is optional for transfer students who have earned 18 or more credits at another institution. Information for transfer students is also available on the NSO site.
Current Penn State students who are changing from another Penn State campus to University Park can find more information at Change of Campus.

Consultation TipsStep 2 — Schedule a consultation
You will schedule an academic consultation appointment time with one of our academic advisers to get your Penn State experience underway. Keep an eye on the available dates and deadlines in your NSO Tasklist, and continue to check your email for messages about when you can make your academic consultation appointment.
This meeting is a virtual meeting and for students only. Due to FERPA, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, family or friends who are present for your consultation may be asked to leave for confidentiality reasons.
If you have trouble scheduling an advising appointment within the target advising days for your ACCS, please contact hhdstudentservices@psu.edu or 814-865-2156.

My academic advisers have always guided me throughout my career here at Penn State, constantly making sure I’m on track while still allowing me to choose which class I want to take. I am very thankful for their guidance and want to stress the importance of creating a relationship with them from the start.
