Undergraduate Research Opportunities

There are many engaging research opportunities for undergraduate students in Penn State’s College of Health and Human Development. HHD faculty recruit undergraduate research assistants to collect survey information, work in research labs, conduct data analysis. Some students even develop their own research projects and present their findings at regional or national conferences.

Finding research opportunities

Research in the College of Health and Human Development takes place both in our departments and in our interdisciplinary research centers.  Each department and center offers some unique opportunities, and many department and research center faculty welcome students from all across the college. In addition, you can utilize the following resources:

Presenting Your Research

Explore your research opportunities

Pre-major students can contact their adviser in the Center for Student Advising and Engagement to discuss specific options that will help meet personal and academic goals. Additionally, all students can reach out directly to HHD faculty and research centers to learn more about research opportunities.

Many departments will share research opportunities through email, flyers, and research fairs where students can talk with faculty and graduate students about research opportunities.

The University Fellowships Office also advises students about undergraduate research opportunities, offers workshops to help students get started with undergraduate research, and advises on how to turn their research and other engaged learning experiences into an application of competitive national and international scholarship and fellowship programs.
