Tips for your Academic Consultation

Important information to get you underway

Prepare for a smooth enrollment process by making the most of your academic consultation. Be sure you have completed your course planning guide and your credit transfer worksheet. Plus, check out our HHD tips for success!   

This meeting is a virtual meeting and for students only. Due to FERPA, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, family or friends who are present for your consultation may be asked to leave for confidentiality reasons.

If you have trouble scheduling an advising appointment within the target advising days for your ACCS, please contact hhdstudentservices@psu.edu or 814-865-2156.

Supporting materials

• Transfer Credit and Transfer Credit Tool
  • Your ACCS meeting will go better if you have an outline of all the potential college credits you already have. This might be AP courses, dual enrollment courses, IB credit or other examples. Make sure your Starfish Survey is completed prior to scheduling your ACCS. 
• Understand you ALEKS score 
  • If you want to place into a higher-level course, you may use ALEKS learning modules to practice your skills and retake the assessment up to two additional times.
