HDFS Undergraduate Student Organization (HDFS USO)

Undergraduates are encouraged to join the HDFS Undergraduate Student Organization (HDFS USO). The HDFS USO represents undergraduate interests to the department and provides opportunities for leadership development, interaction with faculty, informational programs, community service, social events, and more. The HDFS USO is a great way to meet other HDFS students, learn about careers, and get involved on campus.

The HDFS USO coordinates two groups to support career exploration and professional development:

  • Social work interest group: Run jointly by HDFS students, and faculty advisers from the Child Maltreatment and Advocacy Studies minor and the online Master's in Social Work, this group will offer opportunities each semester for students to learn about and prepare for careers in graduate study in social work and related fields.
  • Counseling interest group: Run jointly by HDFS students and faculty advisers with counseling experience, this group will provide opportunities each semester for students to learn about and prepare for careers and graduate study in counseling and related fields.

Take the next step

Interested students should sign up for the HDFS USO, which will disseminate information about events and the interest groups.
