Option Requirements

In addition to the core Human Development and Family Studies major requirements, students in the Developmental Science for Health Professions option complete the following:

• Science and Health Foundations (12 credits): Students can put 12 credits of their pre-health requirements into this option, including biology, organic chemistry, and anatomy and physiology (see the approved course list).
• Health and society (3 credits): BBH 407 Global Health Equity or SOC 451 Health, Disease, and Society
• Advanced Development (6 credits): Course options include infant development, gender and social development, developmental problems in childhood and adolescence, and issues in gerontology.
• Diversity and Development (3 credits): Any HDFS course or one focused on understanding diversity and human development (see the approved course list).

The Developmental Science for Health Professions option also includes 12 credits of electives, which can be used for additional pre-health requirements or to explore careers and build specialized skills related to professional interests.
