Diet and Cardiometabolic Health Lab
Investigating dietary interventions to improve cardiometabolic outcomes
Under the direction of Kristina Petersen, the Diet and Cardiometabolic Health Laboratory studies the effects of nutrients, foods, bioactive components, and dietary patterns on risk factors for cardiometabolic disease, to inform evidence-based guidelines for general health as well as the prevention and management of cardiometabolic diseases. The lab conducts clinical trials aimed at: examining food-based strategies to improve diet quality and cardiometabolic health; investigating the role of taste as a key determinant of food choice to promote the intake of healthy foods; and identifying cardioprotective dietary patterns that accommodate the diverse needs of the population.
