The Diet and Cardiometabolic Health Laboratory studies dietary interventions to reduce the risk of cardiometabolic diseases. Currently, the lab is conducting studies to identify cardioprotective diets that meet the diverse needs of the U.S. population to enhance the feasibility and sustainability of the diets, as well as to address barriers to achieving a healthy diet. In addition, the lab investigates key enablers and barriers to achieving a healthy diet and formulates strategies to promote improved diet quality.

Researchers found that study participants enjoyed many typical American foods better or at least as much as the original versions when some of the saturated fat, salt, and sugar were replaced with healthier herbs and spices. Read more about the lab's findings.
