Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- Our program wants to register but we don't have the names of our team members until the start of the school year. Can we still register?
-
You may register by the name of your program and your college/university. A separate link will be sent later for you to provide the names of your team members.
- Is there a waiting list for teams that don't make the deadline?
-
Our registration system will track the order of teams that don't meet the deadline. If there are any teams that cancel, we will reach out in order to those on the waiting list.
- Can our team have a student observer?
-
Teams may consist of 3 or 4 student members. The team can decide if they want to have 4 presenters or 3 presenters and an observer. IF they opt to have an observer, that person may not participate in developing case solutions, nor can they present. They are purely observing the process and presentation.
- What are the criteria for judging?
-
- Solutions: Case Analysis
- Solutions: Case Deliverables
- Solutions: Innovation
- Solutions: Feasibility
- Presentation: Design
- Presentation: Delivery
- Answering the Judge's Questions
- What is the role of the faculty adviser?
-
Prior to the competition, advisors may help prepare teams by coaching them in general case analysis and general presentation skills. Once the case drops, advisors may not help develop any portion of the case solution or presentation.
- Will the judges know which team is from which college or university?
-
Each team will be assigned a letter for identification. Teams should only refer to themselves by their assigned Letter. Clothing and presentation background must not reveal university affiliation. All deliverables should have the Team Letter noted on them. All presentations should include a title slide that indicates your Team Letter and team members’ first names.
- Can non-participants observe the competition?
-
The competition is not open to the public. In the first and second rounds of the competition, only team members, judges, team advisor or team observer, and program coordination staff are to be present. Teams that do not advance to the final round are encouraged to watch the finalists’ presentations.
