Graduate Certificate in Hospitality Management

Level up your career in Hospitality Management

Penn State's three-course, 9-credit graduate certificate in Hospitality Management provides business professionals with the skills they need to advance their careers in hospitality management. Students will discover how to incorporate data analytics into strategic decision-making and hone the skills necessary to conduct applied research.

All credits earned in this certificate program can be applied toward the Master of Professional Studies in Hospitality Management.

Certificate Requirements

HM 800: Hospitality Industry Dimensions and Directions (3 credits)

*Executive In-Residence Weekend at University Park

A comprehensive overview of the hospitality industry including foundational aspects that hospitality management master candidates will use throughout their coursework. The content will include an overview of the various segments of industry and the current events and future trends that will impact those segments.

HM 560: Hospitality Data Analytics (3 credits)

This course is for both aspiring and established leaders in the hospitality industry. It offers a cross-disciplinary curriculum taught by area experts and aims at helping students analyze, understand, translate and incorporate data in their decision-making processes when designing and executing data-driven competitive strategies.

HM 550: Applied Research and Consulting in the Hospitality Industry (3 credits)

This course addresses the methods and skills necessary to conduct applied research: developing research questions, determining a research design, identifying appropriate research methodologies, collecting and analyzing data, and providing solutions.
