- Student Center and Resources
The Biobehavioral Health Student Center is a space designed exclusively for students in the biobehavioral health and systems neuroscience undergraduate majors, as well as students enrolled in biobehavioral health and systems neuroscience classes, to study and collaborate with peers. The Student Center offers movable seating, whiteboards, chalkboards, free snacks, and more to support students' learning experience.
A space for academic support and student community
Additionally, students can meet with designated learning partners in the Student Center. Learning partners are a group of students who provide academic support to their peers in the following courses: BBH 301W, BBH 310, BBH 440, and BBH 411W. Learning partners can assist with course content, study strategies, and writing support.
Learning partners play a key role in creating a welcoming and engaging BBH community through events that help students connect, de-stress, and build relationships with peers, faculty, and alumni. Whether you're looking to meet new people, learn from professionals, or simply take a break and recharge, BBH Student Center events are designed to foster a sense of belonging and community for BBH students. These events help transform the Student Center into more than just a study space; they create a space where students can connect, grow, and thrive together.
Past BBH Student Center events:
- Therapy dog visits and wellness breaks
- Fueling for Finals study support events
- Open houses and student networking opportunities
- Crafts for a Cause and service projects
- Friendsgiving and social gatherings
- Faculty appreciation and thank-you card campaigns
- Alumni and career panels
- Graduate school preparation workshops
- Faculty lunch-and-learn discussions
- Academic and professional development workshops
All about learning partners
A learning partner is a peer academic support leader who helps students succeed both in and out of the classroom. They provide guidance on course content, study strategies, assignments, and academic resources, while fostering a welcoming and supportive learning community. They serve as approachable mentors who understand the student experience and are committed to helping their peers thrive academically and personally.

Learning partners offer a variety of services designed to promote student success.
- Academic support: Assisting students with course concepts, assignments, and study strategies.
- Drop-in hours: Hosting regularly scheduled sessions where students can ask questions and receive real-time academic guidance.
- One-on-one appointments: Providing individualized support tailored to each student's needs.
- Resource development: Creating study materials, guides, and academic resources to support learning.
- Exam preparation: Leading review sessions and helping students prepare for quizzes, exams, and major assignments.
- Peer mentoring: Connecting students with resources and strategies that support academic growth and confidence.

Whether you're looking for help understanding course material, preparing for an exam, improving your study habits, or connecting with fellow students, learning partners are here to help. As fellow students who have successfully completed many of the same courses, they offer relatable guidance, practical advice, and a supportive environment where questions are always welcome.

If you are currently taking BBH 301W, BBH 310, BBH 411W, or BBH 440, you can book an appointment via Starfish. Learning partners also have drop-in sessions Sunday through Thursday each week. Students enrolled in these courses can also check your course Canvas page for weekly announcements regarding available appointments and the drop in session schedule.
The learning partners also provide asynchronous writing support. Please email your paper and the rubric/guidelines to bbhstudentcenterla@psu.edu at least 48 business hours before your assignment deadline to receive feedback from a learning partner via email.

If you have completed three of the following four courses — BBH 301W, BBH 310, BBH 411W, and BBH 440 — and received a grade of a B or higher, you are eligible to apply to become a learning partner. Undergraduate students in biobehavioral health and systems neuroscience can apply for the role here.
If you are interested or have any questions about the role, reach out to the director of the Student Center.
