BBH Statement on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

We are a department that:

  • Strives to promote a climate of respect and fairness.
  • Works together to discuss issues that inhibit our implementation of the highest standards for diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Aspires toward a community free of racism, sexism, xenophobia, homophobia, religious intolerance, and expressions of hate, bigotry and prejudices.

We develop and value students and alumni who:

  • Embrace the integration of diversity, equity, and inclusion in their studies as well as their lives.
  • Are committed to social responsibility and justice locally and abroad.
  • Use their education and training to be responsible and ethical advocates for health.

We value faculty, trainees, postdocs, staff and administrators who:

  •  Promote and adhere to principles of fairness in decision making.
  • Recognize that each person has unique abilities, interests, strengths, and needs.
  • Respond to all matters with dignity and respect.

We promote research and teaching that:

  • Promotes leadership in advancing the science of health.
  • Enhances skills necessary for our students and trainees to live and work in a diverse society.
  • Includes diversity, inclusion and equity.
