Consider Joining the Epidemiology and Genetics across Populations & Societies (Epi-GaPS) Lab.
For Prospective Graduate Students:

If accepted to the BBH Graduate Program, funding is available for five years.
For Prospective Undergraduate Research Assistants:
We are always looking for talented undergraduates to join the Epidemiology and Genetics across Populations & Societies (Epi-GaPS) Lab. Students have the opportunity to work in the ‘dry’ lab as interns, volunteers, for research credit, or for Honor’s Theses projects/credit. If interested, please complete this application and email it to Dr. Fernández-Rhodes (firstname.lastname@example.org). She will be able to give each application full consideration within 3 weeks of its receipt.

Research Strategies (BBH 310, 3 credits)
University Bulletin Description: BBH 310 surveys the various research methodologies used in biomedical and behavioral research, including case, epidemiological, quasi-experimental and experimental approaches. The goals of this course are: (1) to provide students with a basic understanding in research methods; (2) to familiarize students with research strategies for studying Biobehavioral Health; (3) to develop critical thinkers and informed consumers of scientific research and health information; (4) to provide a basic understanding of the available approaches to research and interventions in order to address the complex set of determinants associated with public health problems that affect general, and specific populations. Enforced Prerequisite at Enrollment: C or better in (STAT 200 or STAT 250) and BBH 101.
Research Project (BBH 494, 3-12 credits)
University Bulletin Description: Supervised student activities on research projects identified on an individual or small-group basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for you to familiarize yourself with the array of research in the Epi-GaPS Lab and have a supervised research experience working with Dr. Fernández-Rhodes. Check with your advisor prior to registering for the Research Project course, as forms may be required.
Independent Study (BBH 496, 3-18 credits; or BBH 496H, 3-6 credits)
University Bulletin Description: Creative projects, including research and design, that are supervised on an individual basis and that fall outside the scope of formal courses.
This course allows you to engage in research and scholarly work that is not covered in regular BBH courses. By working closely with Dr. Fernández-Rhodes, you will gain in-depth knowledge in a specific area of BBH. Check with your advisor prior to registering for
the Research Project course, as adviser approval or additional forms may be required.
Senior Honors Thesis (BBH 494H, 3-6 credits)
University Bulletin Description: Independent study related to a student's interests directed by a faculty supervisor and culminating in the production of a thesis.
Schreyer Honors Students must register for 494H for two semesters, to allow you to get research experience and work towards your honors thesis. In order to enroll in one of these classes, students must complete and submit a form supplied by their college.
Independent Honors Study in BBH (BBH 496H, 3-6 credits)
University Bulletin Description: For non-thesis independent study/research by Schreyer Honors College scholars.
Schreyer Honors Students must register for 494H for two semesters, to allow you to conduct non-thesis related research under the guidance of Dr. Fernández-Rhodes. In order to enroll in one of these classes, students must complete and submit a form supplied by their college.
