IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF THE DEPARTMENT OF BIOBEHAVIORAL HEALTH
IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF THE DEPARTMENT OF BIOBEHAVIORAL HEALTH, DR. THOMAS GOULD
Dear BBH Majors and Pre-Majors,
I am writing with important reminders regarding BBH Degree Requirements, particularly coursework that requires C or higher grades.
As a reminder, to earn a B.S. in Biobehavioral Health, and as stated in the University Bulletin, a grade of C or higher is required in the following courses:
- BBH 101
- BIOL 141
- PSYCH 100
- BBH 310
- BBH 311
- BBH 316
- BBH 411
- BBH 440
- CHEM 101, CHEM 110, MICRB 106 or BIOL 230W
- STAT 200 or STAT 250
- 15 credits of ADDITIONAL BBH COURSES based on pre-approved list (6 credits of which must be at the 400-level).
Students who do not earn a grade of C or higher in these courses are not eligible to earn a B.S. in BBH until these courses have been retaken and completed with a C or higher. Please see http://handbook.psu.edu/content/repeating-courses for information about repeating courses and limits on repeating courses.
If you are struggling to complete any of the courses above with a C or higher, please arrange, as early as possible, to have a conversation with your BBH academic adviser regarding the suitability of BBH as your intended degree program and to consult on strategies for success.
Sincerely,
Thomas Gould, Ph.D.
Head, Department of Biobehavioral Health
