AURORA Outdoor Orientation Programs employ student leaders to guide incoming students on backpacking and community service trips before they begin their Penn State experience. We look for students with strong interpersonal skills and a desire to impact incoming students.

We highly encourage all prospective AURORA leaders to take RPTM 330: Adventure-Based Program Leadership. This course takes place the first eight Thursdays of the spring semester from 6-9 p.m. and is offered to students in all majors. You’ll develop your outdoor leadership skills, interpersonal skills, and more.

For more information about working for AURORA or RPTM 330, contact Drew Lehnerd, Interim AURORA Director, at dlehnerd@psu.edu.

We are now accepting applicants to work with AURORA in 2026. Please use the link below to submit an application. You will hear from us in January with information about interviews and next steps. Thank you for your interest!
