Instructions for Recruiters/Employers

The interviewing process starts with a phone call or email to the Recruiting and Placement Coordinator, Maria Kim Industry and Career Services Coordinator, mxm523@psu.edu, telephone 814-865-8426 to schedule your trip to campus. Many firms come to campus during both Fall and Spring semesters, and schedule as much as six months in advance. You may be interested in viewing our recruiting and academic calendar to assist you in determining a date to visit Penn State.

After your recruiting date has been arranged, you will then receive an email which includes your password to login into Gradleaders the on-campus management interviewing web-based software package. Use Gradleaders to post job description(s), view resumes of students and view your interview schedule.

Company Information Session and Company Day

Many of the hospitality firms who recruit at Penn State in the School of Hospitality Management also schedule a company information session and/or a company day the day before their interviews. The company presentation sessions serve to answer general questions about your company and allow you to meet students in an informal setting.

In addition to the Company Information Session you may also want to set up your company booth in our lobby for a “Company Day.” Typically the “Company Day” is held the day before interviews from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This gives your company exposure to graduating seniors to students who may want to gain knowledge about your company for internships, summer jobs, or permanent placement.

Other University Recruitment

Since The School of Hospitality Management’s recruiting program is administered by School of Hospitality Management staff and is conducted in the SHM facilities; these interviews are restricted to SHM students. However, if you care to interview students in other majors please contact the main university office for Career Services.

Each academic year, a number of career fairs are presented at Penn State's University Park campus. Through these career fairs, you can come in contact with hundreds of qualified candidates. Many employers use this method as a prescreening tool, for both intern/co-op and full-time hires. Fees and restrictions vary for each career fair.
