Proposal Review Criteria

Successful proposals will clearly articulate the following merit criteria:

  • Intellectual merit – theoretical sophistication and novelty; methodological rigor
  • Broader impact – likelihood of the project to have a sustained influence on the research field, as well as impacts on knowledge, practice, policy, and/or societal benefit.
  • Feasibility – ability of the project to be completed within the designated timeframe and budget
  • Team qualifications – as assessment of the investigators experience and expertise
  • Potential for future funding – suitability of the project for longer-term support via external funding mechanism
     

Selection

The selection committee will consist of:

  • Member(s) of the Sustainability Council,
  • Prior awardee(s), and
  • May include ad hoc members selected by the Dean and/or Associate Dean for Research. 

Committee members will individually review and score all submissions. Results will be compiled, and a recommendation for funding will be advanced to the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Education.

Final authority to select and award the grant resides with the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Education and the Dean of the College of Health and Human Development.
