Nicholas Gancitano, ’86, Biomechanics
From ’82 National Championship Glory to Cutting-Edge Science: Nicholas Gancitano’s Unstoppable Journey
Nicholas Gancitano’s journey from Penn State football star to a pioneer in bioresonance therapy and sports biomechanics is one of dedication, passion, and a lifelong commitment to excellence. A former Penn State place-kicker, Nicholas has seamlessly blended his love for athletics with cutting-edge science, helping athletes optimize their performance through biomechanics and bioresonance technology.
In 1981, Nicholas arrived at Penn State on a football scholarship, stepping onto the field as the team’s place-kicker. Over the next four seasons, he became a key player, cementing his legacy in 1982 when Penn State won the National Championship in the Sugar Bowl. His precision and skill earned him the distinction of being the most accurate place-kicker in Penn State history, a testament to his dedication and discipline.
While excelling on the football field, Nicholas was equally committed to his academic pursuits. He majored in Kinesiology, an education that played a crucial role in his athletic career and later professional endeavors. Understanding the mechanics of movement and the science behind human performance allowed him to refine his own techniques and later mentor aspiring athletes. Throughout his coaching career, he has trained 55 kickers who earned Division 1 scholarships, 13 All-Americans, and even guided three professionals, including a Pro Bowl recipient.
After earning his degree in 1986, Nicholas continued to expand his expertise. He pursued additional education and training in bioresonance and earned certifications in biofeedback therapy, biology, and general science education. His career evolved from coaching athletes to helping them achieve peak performance through bioresonance therapy, a revolutionary approach that harnesses energy frequencies to optimize health and recovery. Today, he is the owner of Good Vibrations in Downtown State College, a teacher and private coach for athletes, and a stress-management communications consultant for businesses nationwide.
Nicholas is also an accomplished author, having written two award-winning books, one of which encapsulates his coaching philosophy on the mental game of sports and the body-mind connection. His insights into the psychological and physiological aspects of performance have made a profound impact on the athletes he mentors. He also has been holding biweekly spiritual enlightenment training classes for 30 years. These classes include mastery of the mind-body connection through meditation, contemplative discussion, and how to develop an effective daily practice.
Despite his numerous achievements, one of Nicholas’s greatest joys has been returning to State College with his wife, Penelope. Together, they are rediscovering the town and campus in a way he never had the chance to as a busy student-athlete. Walking through the familiar paths of Penn State, he now has the opportunity to fully appreciate the university that shaped his life and career.
Through his work in biomechanics and bioresonance, Nicholas continues to make a lasting impact both locally and worldwide, proving that the lessons learned on the field and in the classroom at Penn State extend far beyond graduation. His story is one of resilience, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to excellence—values that define the true spirit of a Nittany Lion.
