The Kinesiology Physical Activity Program (KPAP) are service courses offered through the Department of Kinesiology which are approved to assist in fulfilling the Health and Wellness (GHW) component of the General Education requirement for baccalaureate students. The courses offer quality experiences and are designed to promote an active and healthful lifestyle across one’s lifespan often using practiced-based learning including movement. Select courses in this program receive instructional support through the Center for Fitness and Wellness.

There are KPAP courses for everyone! In any given semester, over 100 classes are offered, and over the span of the academic year, more than 6,000 students enroll.  Courses emphasize theory, behavior change and pursuit of and active lifestyle and overall wellness over the lifespan and may be found in the form of lifetime activities such as the traditional racquet sports or golf, fitness-oriented classes such as personal conditioning or mind-body focused courses involving yoga or meditative practices.

In the past several years, course selections have grown to include many new and exciting options for Penn State students, such as Outward Bound types of activities with students participating in sailing and orienteering trips.

For more information, please contact our Program Director, Michele Duffey, or the Administrative Support Assistant, Beth Oberdick.
