KINES 295B: Introduction to Kinesiology Careers – 1 credit

KINES 295 exposes students to self-examination, career pathways, certification prerequisites and internship opportunities within the related field of studies.

KINES 395A: Leadership Practicum for Teachers – 1 credit

KINES 395A is designed to provide teacher candidates with the opportunity to observe, assist, plan and teach health and physical education classes in P-12 school settings.

KINES 495A: Practicum in Student Teaching - 12 credits

Coordinator: Alison Weimer

KINES 495A is A culminating P-12 health and physical education experience in a school setting which is to be scheduled after completing the required HPE courses with a grade of “C” or better and all HPE emphasis requirements.

KINES 495A Practicum in Student Teaching - FALL SEMESTER

Students that plan on completing Kines 495 Practicum in Student Teaching during a Fall Semester, are required to complete and submit a Student Teaching Application by the second week of the Spring Semester prior to the Fall semester that they intend to complete Kines 495 Practicum in Student Teaching. The application is to be submitted to Dr. Alison Weimer.

Students are required to submit an “Intention to Student Teach Form” during their 6th semester to Dr. Alison Weimer.

ADDITIONAL TIMELINES NOTES:

  • Placements will be made between March-May
  • There is a pre-student teaching meeting in early April
  • Clearances must be updated by no later than August 1

KINES 495A Practicum in Student Teaching - SPRING SEMESTER

Students that plan on completing Kines 495 Practicum in Student Teaching during a Spring Semester, are required to complete and submit a Student Teaching Application by the second week of the Fall Semester prior to the Spring semester that they intend to complete Kines 495 Practicum in Student Teaching. The application is to be submitted to Dr. Alison Weimer.

Students are required to submit an “Intention to Student Teach Form” during their 6th semester to Dr. Alison Weimer.

ADDITIONAL TIMELINES NOTES:

  • Placements will be made between October-December
  • There is a pre-student teaching meeting in early November
  • Clearances must be updated by no later than the last day of classes of the fall semester
