Exercise Science Option — Berks Campus
Combine your Kinesiology background and applied experience in fitness assessment, sports science, and healthy living practices to help people select exercise programs that are best suited to their individual needs and capabilities. In this unique B.S. in Kinesiology program at Penn State, you may select either a Business Emphasis or a Science Emphasis, both of which will provide you with a broad knowledge base, practical experience, and communication skills for careers in exercise science and wellness.
In the Business Emphasis, you’ll combine kinesiology courses and basic business skills in accounting, marketing, and management — earning a minor in business in the process. This unique combination will help you compete for employment in corporate fitness, sports management, private fitness clubs, community-based fitness organizations, hospital and university settings, or possibly operate your own wellness consulting company.
The Science Emphasis prepares you for advanced study in graduate school and related medical fields while accumulating valuable training in kinesiology and basic science courses, such as biology, chemistry, and physics. Upon completion, you’ll be prepared to enroll in a physical therapy, chiropractic, athletic training, or medical school program.
Penn State Berks/Alvernia University Doctorate of Physical Therapy Partnership

According to the agreement, a minimum of five seats in Alvernia's DPT program are reserved for qualified students graduating from the Penn State Berks B.S. in Kinesiology degree program. In return, students in Alvernia's DPT program will gain access to Penn State Berks' cadaver laboratory for their first-year anatomy course. For more information please email Dr. Benjamin Infantolino.
