Zach Becker, ’15, Fitness Studies
From Penn State to Program Manager at Work-Fit
Zach Becker, an Exercise Physiologist and Program Manager for Work-Fit, contracted at Boeing Company in Ridley Park, PA, is a prime example of how a strong educational foundation and diverse experiences can lead to career success.
A 2015 graduate of Penn State University with a focus in Fitness Studies, Zach credits his time at Penn State for shaping his work ethic and personal growth. He fondly recalls balancing work and social life while taking advantage of the university's world-class resources. From working as a trainer at campus fitness centers to studying late nights in the library stacks and enjoying happy hours at Café 210, Zach's undergraduate years provided him with both professional skills and lifelong friendships.
"The Kinesiology department offered such a wide variety of experiences that I could explore different aspects of the field and discover my interests," Zach says. "Those experiences, combined with the resources at Penn State, gave me an edge when entering graduate school. The methods I learned to overcome challenges as an undergrad are still ones I rely on in my current position."
After Penn State, Zach pursued a Master's degree in Human Performance from the University of Alabama, further solidifying his expertise in exercise science and human movement. He is also a certified personal trainer, a testament to his dedication to helping others achieve their health and fitness goals.
One of Zach’s favorite memories reflects his enduring connection to Penn State: "In 2016, I drove all through the night from Alabama back to State College for the Ohio State game. Penn State upset Ohio State in the last few minutes, and the whole town erupted. It was well worth the drive!"
As a proud Penn State alumnus, Zach encourages fellow Nittany Lions to wear their Penn State gear when traveling. "It’s always great hearing a ‘We Are!’ in faraway places," he says, underscoring the global reach and camaraderie of the Penn State community.
Zach’s story exemplifies how passion, hard work, and the opportunities provided by Penn State can lead to a fulfilling career and lifelong memories.
