Michael Ellis, ’09, Biomechanics
From Penn State to pioneering medical wellness.
Michael has carved a unique path in the medical field, blending his passion for biomechanics with a commitment to improving health and wellness. His journey began at Penn State, where he graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a focus in Biomechanics. Those formative years were not just academically enriching but also filled with memorable experiences that shaped his outlook on life and medicine.
During his time at Penn State, Michael immersed himself in the vibrant campus life. "My time at Penn State was some of the most memorable times of my life," he recalls. The friendships he forged during this period have endured, forming a network of support and camaraderie that remains strong today. Among his cherished memories are camping out at Paternoville, the thrill of the white-out games, participating in THON, and the comforting sense of belonging he feels whenever he returns to campus.
Graduating with a solid foundation in Kinesiology, Michael pursued further education at the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine, earning his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 2015. This advanced training equipped him with a holistic understanding of the human body, which he now applies in his multifaceted career.
Michael's professional journey has seen him take on several key roles in the medical field. He is the Owner and Medical Director of Keep Glowing Medical Spa in Tinton Falls, NJ, where he leverages his expertise in biomechanics to help clients achieve optimal health. As the Chief Medical Officer at Fulcrum Performance in Manhattan, NY, he works with high performers and athletes, fine-tuning their physical health to ensure peak performance. His role as Director of Internal Medicine at Scheer Medical, also in Manhattan, underscores his dedication to comprehensive patient care. Additionally, as the Medical Director at Regenesis HRT in Pittsburgh, PA and NEOs Elite Performance in Minneapolis, MN, Michael continues to push the boundaries of wellness and regenerative medicine.
The COVID-19 pandemic marked a turning point in Michael's career. Witnessing firsthand the impact of the virus, especially on individuals with underlying health issues like obesity, prompted him to shift his focus towards wellness and regenerative medicine. "After seeing how many people were affected by this virus due to simple medical problems such as being overweight, I transitioned my focus in medicine to more of the wellness and regenerative aspects of medicine," he explains. This shift allowed him to utilize his Kinesiology background to help people lead healthier lives, whether through weight management or enhancing athletic performance.
Among Michael's favorite memories from Penn State is camping out at Paternoville for a week before the Penn State vs. Michigan game in 2008. Sitting in the second row, the excitement and energy of the game left an indelible mark on him. These experiences, combined with his academic and professional achievements, reflect a journey defined by a passion for health, a commitment to excellence, and an enduring connection to his alma mater.
Michael's story is one of dedication, innovation, and a continuous pursuit of knowledge. His work in various medical capacities not only improves individual health but also exemplifies the integration of academic foundations with real-world applications. From his unforgettable days at Penn State to his current roles in medical leadership, Michael's journey is a testament to the power of education, experience, and a relentless drive to make a difference
