The Micronutrients and Pregnancy Lab is currently focusing on the following research areas:

  • Maternal micronutrient deficiencies, and co-occurring deficiencies with the most expertise in vitamins A, B12 and D and iron
  • Measuring micronutrient status via assessment of biomarkers in serum or plasma, and fatty acids in human milk
  • The relationship between malnutrition, physiologic changes during pregnancy, placental and fetal development, and adverse pregnancy outcomes
  • New measurements for assessing the placenta at delivery (PlacentaVision) and plasma volume expansion across pregnancy
