2019 Student Marshals

Josh Zimmerman, son of Jason Zimmerman and Krystal Clayton, of McClure, Pennsylvania, was a member of the Penn State Christian Athletics and the Athletic Training Club, in which he had the opportunity to work with various Penn State sports programs, including track and field/cross country, football, gymnastics, and wrestling. He was a recipient of the Sayers "Bud" Miller Jr. Memorial Award, the Fowler Family Trustee Scholarship, and the Kinesiology Scholarship. Following graduation, Zimmerman plans to continue his education to pursue a career in athletic training.

Haley Toadvine, daughter of Daniel Toadvine and Aimee Toadvine, both of Yardley, Pennsylvania, was an emergency room volunteer at Mount Nittany Medical Center, taught health literary skills and the English language to immigrants through the Mid-State Health Literacy Council, and completed internships at Fox Chase Cancer Center and Temple University Hospital where she assisted in head and neck cancer research. She was a teaching assistant for biology courses, a learning assistant for anatomy and psychology courses, and worked in the Cognition, Affect, and Temperament Laboratory in the Department of Psychology. She raised money for the 2019 Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon and was a social chair and alumni relations chair for Phi Gamma Nu. Toadvine, a 2018 Evan Pugh Senior Award winner, also studied in Barcelona, Spain during summer 2018. Following graduation, she will begin an accelerated degree program in nursing.

Heidi Fanton, daughter of Mark and Stacy Fanton of Cabot, Pennsylvania, was a member of the Penn State Elegance Twirling Club, where she was president from 2018-19 and treasurer from 2017-18, a committee member of Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, member of Boulevard, and active in the Penn State chapter of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association. She was a presenter for the International Congress of Infant Studies, a recipient of an Evan Pugh Scholar Award, and received a Health and Human Development Summer Research grant. Following graduation, Fanton plans to attend graduate school to become a speech-language pathologist where she plans to pursue a career working with children who have complex communication needs in a school setting.

Kaitlyn Hoster, daughter of Linda Wieczorek of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Robert Hoster of Naples, Florida, was a member of Ski Club THON and Penn State's American College of Health Care Administrators. She was inducted into Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, was a mentor in the Department of Health Policy and Administration, and made Dean’s List all eight semesters. Following graduation, Hoster plans to pursue a career in hospital administration or long-term care.

Nicole Harker, daughter of Linda Harker of State College, Pennsylvania, and Victor Harker of Grampian, Pennsylvania, was a member of Eta Sigma Delta, the honor society for Hospitality Management students, where she completed numerous community service projects. She worked at the Nittany Lion Inn as a front desk agent, held an internship at the Reeds at Shelter Haven, and was selected to attend the International Foodservice Manufacturers Association President's Conference. She received numerous awards and scholarships, including the President’s Freshman Award, the President Sparks Award, the Evan Pugh Scholar Award. She also was recipient of a Bunton Waller Scholarship, Renaissance Fund Scholarship, and the Snyder Scholarship of Health and Human Development. Following graduation, she plans to complete a manager-in-training program at the Four Seasons Ko Olina Resort in Oahu, Hawaii.

Sarah Banaszynski, daughter of Elizabeth and Jerome Banaszynski of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, was a research assistant in Infant and Child Temperament Lab and was a teaching assistant for various Human Development and Family Studies classes. She was also a small group coordinator for Changing Health Attitudes and Actions to Recreate Girls project and was a volunteer and part-time teacher at the Bennett Family Center. Banaszynski is a recipient of the Gamble Scholarship, an Evan Pugh Scholar Award, and the Gerhardt Child Development Scholarship. She is a member of the Health and Human Development Honor Society, and made Dean’s List four times. Following graduation, Banaszynski plans to earn a master’s of education from George Washington University and pursue a career as an elementary school counselor.

Michael Healy, son of Edmund and Deborah Healy of Macungie, Pennsylvania, founded three charity bike rides to benefit Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon and was a volunteer and dancer. He volunteered and interned at the Center for Fitness and Wellness and the Exercise is Medicine on Campus. Healy served on the Penn State Faculty Senate in 2016-17 as a student senator and was a clinical research scholar at Lehigh Valley Health Network Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery. Additionally, he was a tutor for science and Spanish courses, volunteer during We Are Weekend, a new student mentor in Schreyer Honors College, and a volunteer for Stay and Play “Falloween” Festival at State College Presbyterian Church. Healy was a member of the Penn State Community Heroes Service Club, where he helped rebuild infrastructures and communities impacted by poverty and natural disaster West Virginia. He was a member of the Student Government Association, the Council of Commonwealth Student Government, and Penn State Parmi Nous Honor Society. Healy was a two-time recipient of the Penn State Student Engagement Network Grant, and a recipient of the Student Service Award and the Edith Pitt Chace Award, in addition to being a Schreyer Honors Scholar. Following graduation, he plans to volunteer for AmeriCorps and then apply to medical school.

Camryn McCabe, daughter of John and Caroline McCabe of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, participated in the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon as a committee member for three years and as a dancer her senior year. She volunteered at Centre County PAWS and participated in intramural volleyball. Minoring in Health Policy and Administration, McCabe made Dean’s List every semester. Following graduation, she plans to pursue further education and a career as a physician assistant.

Heidi Erb, daughter of David Erb and Tracey Cooper of Halifax, Pennsylvania, was vice president of the Recreation, Park, and Tourism Management Student Society and was a football operations intern for the Nittany Lions football team in 2018. She completed two internships with Hershey Entertainment & Resorts, one in employee administration and another in food and beverage management. Erb also completed a guest experience and tours management internship at Heinz Field with the Pittsburgh Steelers. She was a member of the Chancellor’s Leadership Access Student Program and the College of Health and Human Development Honors Society. She was a recipient of the College of Health and Human Development Alumni Society Student Excellence Award and received the Jonathan and Judy Mills Trustee Scholarship. After graduation she plans to pursue a career in collegiate or professional athletics.
