Summer Health Professions Education Program

The Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) is a free summer enrichment program focused on improving access to information and resources for college students interested in the health professions. SHPEP’s goal is to strengthen the academic proficiency and career development of students underrepresented in the health professions and prepare them for a successful application and matriculation to health professions schools.

Summer Enrichment Program in Health Management and Policy

UM SEP is an 8-week comprehensive experience for undergraduate students who are committed to eliminating health inequalities. Each summer, 18-25 undergraduate students from across the country come to the University of Michigan for education, mentoring, internships with health care organizations in Southeast Michigan, and preparation for graduate school success. Since the program's inception in 1986, more than 90% of its participants have completed graduate study in public health, medicine, health sciences, and business. Students who will be entering their junior or senior year in the Fall of 2020, and are interested in the health field, administration, or any career that will enable them to use their skills to advance health equity, are encouraged to create an application.

ORISE Fellowship at CDC

A summer fellowship opportunity is available in the Division of Laboratory Sciences (DLS) within the National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on the Chamblee Campus in Atlanta, Georgia. DLS provides laboratory support that improves the detection, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of environmental, tobacco-related, nutritional, newborn, selected chronic and selected infectious diseases. This program is available to any undergraduate or graduate student majoring in Biochemistry or Chemistry or a related field. Opportunity is open to U.S. Citizens only.
