About the BBH Alumni Group

The Biobehavioral Health Alumni Group is an Affiliate Program Group chartered by the College of Health of Human Development.   Affiliate Program Groups (APGs) are chartered by their college or campus alumni society. APGs are similar to societies, with the exception that this connection is focusing on the promotion and development of the academic department rather than the entire college or campus. Some APG activities include networking, mentoring, and student recruitment. An Affiliate Program Group (APG) consists of alumni or friends of Penn State who have a common interest in a particular academic, professional, or extracurricular activity that is related to a specific college or campus program.

The BBH Alumni Group strives to unite alumni of the Department of Biobehavioral Health; to provide a means whereby alumni may network to achieve closer alliance among alumni, faculty and students; and to enhance the stature and effectiveness of the department.

We fulfill this mission through activities in four main areas:

Mentoring

We help students discover careers they can pursue with a degree in Biobehavioral Health by sponsoring career panels, providing career information, and supporting the college wide mentoring program.

Awards

We nominate BBH alumni, students, faculty, and staff for the College of Health and Human Development awards, including the Alumni Recognition Award, Alumni Service Award, and the Emerging Professionals Awards. These awards help to highlight the accomplishments of our outstanding BBH alumni, faculty, staff, and students.

Communications

We provide avenues for BBH alumni to connect or reconnect with each other, faculty, and current students. This is done through BBH Affiliate Program Group meetings, speed networking events, Alumni in the Classroom events, etc.

Social

We sponsor social activities on and off campus to promote a sense of community among BBH alumni and students including Penn State football watch parties in different locations across the Commonwealth, tailgates at Beaver Stadium, during the football season, participating in golf tournaments, hiking, and other outdoor activities in the summer.
