Student in a conversation with an alumni mentor.

The purpose of the Communication Sciences and Disorders APG is to provide a means for alumni to interact and connect with fellow alumni, faculty, and students while also enhancing the stature and effectiveness of the Communication Sciences and Disorders program. We work to achieve this purpose through work in the following areas:

  1. Mentoring - We assist in the recruitment of alumni mentors for the Health and Human Development Mentoring Program and pair up informal mentors for those who are unable to participate in the formal Mentoring Program. We also sponsor career activities for students including classroom visits, Web conferences, and workshop roundtable discussions.
  2. Awards - We nominate at least one candidate for an award sponsored by the HHD Alumni Society.
  3. Communications - We work to improve communication amongst the alumni via newsletter and online postings. Join our group on facebook: "I’m an alum of Penn State CSD."
  4. Social/Professional Activities - We sponsor or co-sponsor at least one event per year to help connect alumni. Examples are a "happy hour" prior to the formal mentoring dinner in February.
