Meetings and Events Management Certificate
Prepare for a field with few boundaries with the Meetings and Events Management Certificate
With excellent career opportunities in business meetings, conventions, sports tournaments, live festivals, community events or more, students who pursue the Meetings and Events Management Certificate (MEMC) develop transferable skills including strategic management, event and experience design, production, and risk management.
Industry with a Future
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (2014), the job outlook for meeting, convention and event planners is expected to grow 33% by 2022. The entry-level education requirement for planners is a bachelor’s degree, particularly in hospitality and tourism management.
MEMC is open to all Penn State students, compliments a number of majors
The MEMC program is open to all Penn State students in residence regardless of major. It is an excellent complement for majors such as public relations, communications, community development and other majors in which events and meetings are integral to the professional strategy.
Contacts
Speak to an adviser to find out more about the Meetings and Events Management Certificate (MEMC) program.

Other Penn State Students
All other students may contact and work through advisers in either Hospitality Management or Recreation, Park, and Tourism Management to review which pathway may best align with academic and career goals. Students must also work with their own academic adviser from their home college or department to determine if courses satisfy degree program requirements.
