Course structure and completion

Do I have to attend all 16 modules in the course?: Yes, Pennsylvania licensing regulations require most people to complete all 16 modules, or 120-hours to fulfill the requirements.

If I miss a module, are there make-up sessions?: No, there are no make-up sessions planned. Students will need to find another approved course or wait until the missing module is offered during the following semester at University Park. There are no refunds for missed modules.

Do I have to start with the first module and complete them sequentially?: No, each module is independent and does not need to be completed in any sequence.

Is there a time limit to complete all the modules?: No, there's no time limit to complete all the modules.

Licensing and certification

What requirements are needed for the Nursing Home Administrator (NHA) licensure?: The requirements can be found at the Pennsylvania Department of State website, including the full licensing regulations under the Board Resources links.

Is this course a good guide to studying for the federal and state exams?: This course is designed to meet the Pennsylvania requirements of a 120-hour course as prescribed by the licensing board. As such, it addresses those requirements and is not designed or intended to address material that may be contained in the federal and state exams.

Internships and career path

Does Penn State offer Administrator-In-Training (AIT) internships?: No, fulfilling the experience requirements outlined in the regulations is up to the student.

Credits, transcripts, and certificates

Do you earn college credits for taking the course?: No college credits are earned while taking the course as a non-credit course.

Can I take this course as a credit?: Yes, but you must be a registered student. This requires multiple steps including applying to Penn State as either a degree or non-degree seeking student. Tuition for the for-credit version of this course is higher than that of the non-credit version.

Payment and registration

Is there a payment plan?: There is no payment plan available. However, you can choose to register for individual or multiple modules, allowing payment flexibility.

Can I use financial aid?: No, unfortunately financial aid is not accepted for a non-credit course.
