The College of Health and Human Development will be offering funds for undergraduates to complete research under the direction of a faculty mentor. Funds may be used for student expenses and project costs.

Please note faculty supervisor requirements below. Students must be enrolled in a College of HHD major or be a premajor HHD student.

Deadline is the beginning of the prior semester intended for funding. Applicants will be notified the middle of the semester of application regarding funding decisions.

Students applying for the Erickson Discovery Grant Program from the University can submit the same application for this funding.

Project Summary

A two-page summary of the project, written by the student, and including the following: 

  • The question or goal to be addressed and its relevance to the discipline or field. 
  • The methods or processes that will be used to address the question or goal. 
  • Why the project is of interest to the student and his or her preparation to complete it (courses, other experiences, etc.). 
  • How the supervision by the faculty member will contribute to the project. 

Faculty Recommendation

A one-page recommendation should be submitted from the faculty supervisor to Heather Zimmerman (hdh3@psu.edu) in the Office of the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies and Outreach. The recommendation should include:

  1. Name of student
  2. Title of the project
  3. A statement of faculty support for the student’s project.
